parcours 1913

On July 11, 12 and 13, 1913, the lives of the people of Amiens and Longueau were completely turned upside down by an unprecedented event:

The Grand Prix de l'Automobile Club de France.

Today, the memory of this Grand Prix exists among a few insiders but is totally unknown to the population of Picardy.

The Fourche de Longueau, the starting and finishing point of the circuit, the location of the racing cars and the grandstands, bears witness to this great sporting history.

On the occasion of its 111th anniversary, the initiators of the project plan to organise a major classic car festival in the Amiens – Longueau region. It would also be an opportunity to place a plaque entitled Lieux de l'Histoire de l'Automobile (LHA) with the F.F.V.E., which would thus celebrate and share this memory with a very wide audience. Paradoxically, only one of these plates exists in our industrial region where the history of the automobile was present, it is located in Maubeuge on the histrical site of the GILLICK factory.
